Telemedicine

Telemedicine makes it possible for those who can’t go to the doctor’s office to still get the medical services they need. At Mountcastle Medical & Med Spa in Lillington, North Carolina, Brandy Mountcastle, BS, MMS, PA-C, and the team provide care through telemedicine.

Telemedicine Services at Mountcastle Medical

Telemedicine refers to the use of technology to deliver healthcare services remotely. While the terms telemedicine and telehealth are often used interchangeably, they have distinct meanings. Telemedicine typically refers to virtual visits with healthcare providers, while telehealth encompasses a broader range of remote healthcare services, including electronic prescriptions, appointment reminders, and access to medical records online.

At Mountcastle Medical, we use telemedicine to ensure that you can receive the care you need, regardless of where you are. Our goal is to overcome the barriers to healthcare access by offering virtual appointments for a variety of services. This approach is especially beneficial for those living in rural communities or those who may have difficulty traveling to our clinic.

Telemedicine Services at Mountcastle Medical

Telemedicine at Mountcastle Medical allows you to manage a range of health concerns without needing to visit our office in person. You can schedule virtual appointments for ongoing care, such as:

Chronic condition management

Whether it’s monitoring blood glucose levels for diabetes, managing hypertension, or discussing medications, telemedicine provides a convenient platform for follow-up visits and condition management.

Urgent care consultations

For conditions that don’t require an in-person examination, such as minor illnesses, viral infections, or skin rashes, you can receive timely care through a virtual visit.

Prescription renewals

PLEASE NOTE: Controlled substances are not included for renewals with telemedicine services.
If you need a prescription refill or have questions about your medications, telemedicine offers an easy way to consult with your provider.
While many health concerns can be addressed remotely, there are times when an in-office visit may be necessary. For example, if your provider needs to conduct a physical exam or diagnostic test—such as a throat culture for a suspected strep infection—an in-person appointment will be required.

What to Expect During a Telemedicine Appointment

During your telemedicine visit with Mountcastle Medical, you can expect the same level of compassionate, patient-centered care that we provide in person. To make the most of your virtual appointment, we recommend the following:

  • Choose a private, quiet location with good lighting for your visit.
  • Have a list of your current medications and any questions or concerns ready for discussion.
  • Be prepared to provide important health information, such as your weight, blood glucose readings, or a picture of a rash if necessary.

Your healthcare provider will ask detailed questions about your symptoms, review your medical history, and may request additional information to guide their diagnosis. After evaluating your condition, your provider will discuss treatment options, provide recommendations, and schedule follow-up appointments if needed.
